Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Laura Denise Patterson, 41, was born on November 15, 1978 in Fort Worth, Texas to parents Michael Edmond Patterson and Jana Denise McChesnee Patterson. She was the 6th generation family member to live on the family’s Colleyville homeplace. She was the 5th generation to graduate from Grapevine Schools. Laura graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in human development. As a child, Laura loved to roller skate. She participated in numerous skating competitions, representing her skate club. She also loved to swim. Her love for swimming continued into her adult life. She taught swimming lessons. She was proud of her students’ accomplishments as they gained skills under her guidance. She liked to cook. She enjoyed trying new dishes and trying to duplicate her grandma’s recipes. She was known to prepare peanut butter fudge and cheese balls for her friends. She loved anything spicy, the spicier the better. Laura was very creative. She had a talent for arts and crafts. She often crafted outstanding handmade greeting cards and sent them to friends. She made sure Oliver’s classmates and teachers always had handmade holiday crafts and treats. She loved music. John Lennon, Tripping Daisy, and Polyphonic Spree were all favorites. She helped at holiday Polyphonic Spree concerts. She also had a wide group of friends who were Poly fans. “Lauraloo” or “Loo”, as her friends called her, was a devoted friend to many. In addition to her Polyphonic Spree group, she had a circle of friends from high school she remained close to throughout her life. She was always there for others, lending a needed ear or a shoulder to cry on. She also enjoyed good times with those friends. Due to her sense of humor, she enjoyed anything funny. The biggest love of her life was her son, Oliver. He has inherited her artistic talent, her love for animals, and most certainly her sense of humor. Early on she had him drawing, painting, crafting and cooking. He loves his plush animals, much like Laura loved Andre, her constant bear companion. Also, like his mother, he loves cats. Laura, loved by many, passed from this life on January 28, 2020 in Fort Worth. She is now well, experiencing the joy of God’s gifts and His grace. Laura is survived by her son Oliver; her mother Jana McChesnee, her father Michael Patterson and his wife Marilyn; aunts; uncles; cousins and many friends.
