Walter Rainey, 50, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, Fort Worth, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment: New Hope Cemetery, Boyd. Walter was born Jan. 15, 1966, to parents, John Thomas Rainey and wife LaVeda Burnett Rainey in Fort Worth. Walter graduated from Calvary Academy in Fort Worth. He worked for MHMR and for the Transit Authority, assisting handicapped persons. He then worked for the postal service more than 18 years. Walter was a great brother and a faithful son. He was a devoted Christian. A charitable person, he donated to many charities to help others. Walter collected movies and sports cards, and was a Dr. Who fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Rainey and LaVeda Burnett Rainey; and his sister, Iris Elaine Smith. Survivors: He is survived by his brother, John Smith and wife, Susan; niece, Laveda Smith; and nephews, Nathanial Smith, Robert Louis Smith, Milton Wayne Smith and John Dave Smith.
