Obituary of Christopher "Chris" Bryan Roberts

Please share a memory of Christopher to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On the afternoon of September 30, 2016, Christopher “Chris” Bryan Roberts passed away at his home in Haslet, Texas. He was 36 years old. He leaves behind his wife of eight years, Desiree Roberts, a daughter Kelsey Roberts, 15, and a son Ezekiel Roberts, 2. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at The Met Church, 11301 N Riverside Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76244. Chris was born on November 23, 1979 in Dallas, Texas to Bryan Roberts and Allyson Greer-Quinn (nee Roberts.) He grew up in Irving and attended MacArthur High School, where he was a captain of the varsity football team and a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated high school in 1998 and attended University of Houston, where he studied Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. Immediately after college, Chris jumped head-first into the real estate finance business, working first as a processor at GMAC, and later becoming a loan officer and mortgage broker. At the time of his passing, he served as a Senior Loan Officer and Certified Mortgage Planner for Mid America Mortgage, where he had worked for nearly five years. It is not an exaggeration to say that Chris was a legend in this business. He was the top producing officer at his firms every year from 2002-2009, when he transitioned out of production into management. Over his career spanning over sixteen years, Chris assisted thousands of customers with their home finance needs. His colleagues described him, variously, as “the best of the best,” “well-liked and respected,” and “kind, humble, and generous with his time.” Despite his enormous success as a mortgage professional, those who loved Chris knew he was three things first: a Christian, a devoted husband, and a loving father. Chris was also an outdoorsman, taking his family camping, to the beach, or out on the boat at Eagle Mountain Lake. His universally loving character showed in how he rescued a kitten in the woods, brought her home, named her Bob, and they were inseparable, playing hide and seek together when they weren’t snuggling. He was also a musician at heart and was especially carefree while playing his guitars and drums and had fun traveling the country to attend concerts and shows. He enjoyed all sports, and spent his spare time dove hunting, golfing, and cheering for the Rangers and the Cowboys, who he sincerely believed would win the Super Bowl every season. But his favorite sports teams to watch were Kelsey’s teams. He attended as many of her softball, volleyball, and soccer games as possible, and spent hours playing catch with her or coaching her on her swing. They had a special relationship and always made each other laugh with their countless inside jokes. Chris read hundreds of books to Zeke, cuddled and played with him, and always knew how to make him giggle. They loved singing and dancing together maybe most of all. Throughout every part of his life, Chris was a man with a serving spirit. He believed in doing things, not having things. He is deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara and Al Barsh and Donald Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Desiree, of Haslet; his daughter, Kelsey, of Dallas; his son, Zeke, of Haslet; his father, Bryan Roberts, of Grand Prairie; his mother, Allyson Greer-Quinn of Irving; his brother, Adam Roberts of Fort Worth; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his in-laws; and; D.D. Roberts, James Quinn, Jamie Roberts, Addison Roberts, and Rachel Pierret.
