Please share a memory of Eunice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eunice G. Ward died August 31, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Genesis United Methodist Church, 7635 S. Hulen at 1:00pm on Friday, September 30. Burial at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery will be private.
Eunice was born to Emmet and Eunice Young in Highland Park, Michigan on November 8, 1929 and had four siblings, Dorothy, Marjorie, Norman and Arthur. She attended Eastern Michigan University for two years before leaving school to marry John (Jack) Ward, the love of her life. They moved to Fort Worth in 1950 and despite having left twice for work, upon retirement they returned because it always felt like home. Eunice was employed as a registrar at Arlington Heights High School. During the time they lived in Greenville, Texas, she worked at Texas A&M at Commerce as the supervisor for student loans.
Eunice was an ardent tennis and golf player and played both sports actively well into her 70's. She was active in Citizens on Patrol and other neighborhood civic projects and enjoyed bird watching. Genesis United Methodist Church was dear to her heart. She felt that her crowning joy was her four daughters and her pride in the knowledge that they all graduated from college. She jokingly said, “that's what I want on my tombstone.” She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan Zindel. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her beloved husband of 66 years, Jack Ward and her daughters, Jeanine Ward, Janet Ward, Marilyn Zindel, Carol Greenia and sons-in-law Jeff Zindel and Michael Greenia as well as Sandy Coachman. Ten grandchildren, Devin Ward, Jeffrey, Douglas, and Brady Deskin, Nicholas, Chad, and Jessica Zindel, Haley, Blake, and Genevieve Greenia and great-grandchildren, Natalie Deskin and Mazzy and Julien Ward plus many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Sunrise of Fort Worth for the loving care she received there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, where a TRIBUTE has been set up for Eunice Ward.
