JB Brannen, 78, of Denton, TX passed away in his home on August 22, 2016. He was born May 21, 1938, in El Reno, OK, to Teddy Roe and Gladys Marie Gramling Brannen. JB served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force before enrolling at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Central State College (now Central State University) in Edmond, OK, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. JB married Alice Wilson on March 31, 1961, in Oklahoma City. He served as Executive Director of Child and Family Services in Amarillo, TX; Columbia, SC; Austin, TX; and Waco, TX, and was Director of Adolescents and Children’s Services in Denton, TX when he retired in 2000. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Denton for 16 years and served as class president in the Searchers class. JB was preceded in death by his parents Teddy Roe and Gladys Marie Gramling Brannen, his brother Gene Crosby Brannen and wife Sally Ann. He is survived by his wife, Alice; sons Kevin and wife Laurie Kietzke Brannen of Justin, TX, and Myron Lynn and wife Elizabeth Eldridge Brannen of Evergreen, CO; grandchildren Christina and husband Michael Reedy, Angela, Patrick, Ashley, James and Heather Brannen; and great- grandson Kyle Reedy. Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Locust Street, Denton, TX, Friday, September 2, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. Memorial arrangements are under the direction of Terry and Kate Branson. A private burial will be held at First United Methodist Church.
