The Rev. Alvin Brunn, 90, Presbyterian minister, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 of pulmonary fibrosis. Service: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 7001 Trail Lake Drive, Fort Worth, Texas. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, Habitat for Humanity, Westminster Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice. Alvin was born to John and Elsie Brunn on April 13, 1926, near Storm Lake, Iowa. In his early years, he lived in Iowa, Colorado, and Minnesota. He graduated from high school in Ellsworth, Minnesota. He earned a B.A. from Sioux Falls College and an M.A. from the University of South Dakota. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister shortly after graduating from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL, and initially served churches in Indiana and Nebraska. Rev. Brunn was the organizing pastor of Underwood Hills Presbyterian Church in Omaha, Nebraska, where he and his wife, Judith Kloster, were married in 1957, in a service officiated by his father. After serving churches in Jackson, Minnesota and Essen, Germany, and later in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1977. He served as interim minister in several churches in Grace Presbytery. In retirement, he and his wife travelled extensively throughout the U.S. and the world. He enjoyed woodcarving, and twice served as president of the Fort Worth Woodcarvers. Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Judith Brunn, and their four children, Lisa Gossett and husband, Tom; Mark Brunn; Paul Brunn; and Heather Hoffman and husband, Brian. He also is survived by his seven grandchildren: Nicole Brunn, Karen Brunn, Sarah Gossett, Rachel Gossett, Megan Hoffman, Alexander Hoffman, and Jessica Hoffman; his sisters, LuEtta Olsen and husband, Bill, and Judith Harshbarger; his brother, Cyril Brunn; and numerous other relatives and friends.
