Michael Sims, twelve days shy of his 100th birthday, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015, which was also the birthdate of his three daughters.
Service: 11:30 a.m. Monday, Marty Leonard Chapel, 3131 Sanguinet St., Fort Worth, TX 76107.
Visitation: 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday, Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Ft. Worth, TX 76133.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Travis Avenue Baptist Church Music Ministry.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was born on January 2, 1916 in Van Houten, New Mexico to Peter and Maria Simovich. Mike was a member of First Baptist Church of Hobbs, NM for over 50 years as well as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in recent years. Mike enjoyed playing golf and singing.
As an entrepreneur, he developed several businesses and participated in other successful ventures. In 1964 Mike was the Republican candidate for Congressman-at-Large for the State of New Mexico.
Survivors: Wife of 68 years, Darnell Sims; daughters, Michele May and husband Bob, Jan Lee and husband John, and Jennifer Hughens and husband Kennon; brother, John Simovich and wife Marie; grandchildren, John Brian Lee, David Michael May, Erin Hughens Neely, Jenny Lee Brochu, Cara Hughens Lemaster, and Michael Kennon Hughens; and great-grandchildren, Annah Grace Lee, John Austin Lee, Ella Jane Neely, Jackson Neely, and Murray Andrew Brochu.
