Obituary of Patti Ruth Davis Collins
Patti Ruth Davis Collins was born on June 30, 1933, in Terrell, Texas, to Leamon Davis Sr. and Pearl Waggoner Davis. She attended Burnett High School in Terrell, where she graduated with honors in 1951. A talented athlete, Patti excelled in basketball, track, and cheerleading.
Before becoming a devoted wife and mother, Patti attended Prairie View A&M College. Though her undergraduate studies were briefly put on hold, she returned during the summers to complete her degree in Education. She later retired from the Fort Worth Independent School District after a fulfilling career as an educator.
In 1952, Patti married Charles R. Collins Sr., and together they raised four children: Cassandra Kay, Charles Jr., Ronald Wayne, and Kenny Charon. Following Cassandra’s birth, the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where they became active members of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Parish. As their children grew, Patti remained a constant presence in their lives, ensuring they received a strong education at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School.
A dedicated and stylish school mom, Patti encouraged her sons to serve as altar boys while Cassandra participated in the choir. She placed great importance on academic excellence but also supported her children’s extracurricular activities, including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, swimming, baseball, and other sports. No matter the event, she was always their number one cheerleader.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Voncella, her brother Leamon, her daughter Cassandra Kay, her grandson Brian, and her husband, Charles Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Jr., Ronald, and Kenny, as well as her beloved grandchildren: Tashima, Tamika, Bradley, Rhonda, Allie, Trisian, and Damon. Patti also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished dearly. For Patti, family always came first, and she adored each grandchild, proudly bouncing them on her lap and showering them with love.
