Obituary of Robert Dorren York
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Dorren York on January 8, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Dover, Ohio, Bob was the devoted husband of Geraldine Iva York, sharing 68 golden years of love and partnership.
“His children lovingly remember him: his daughter, Melodie Lynn (York); his son-in-law, Brian Evan Wall, of Weatherford, Texas; his son, Robert Eugene York; and his daughter-in-law, Eufemia Murillo Lemus York, of Madrid, Spain. He was also deeply cherished by his ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life."
Bob honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, from January 1957 to August 1980. He excelled in missile pneumatics (Minuteman, Thor, and Titan missiles), aircraft pneumatics, and munition maintenance. His outstanding military service earned him numerous accolades, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (Army) with one Bronze Leaf, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters.
Following his military career, Bob continued to contribute his expertise as an engineer, working for McDonald Douglas for 10 years and Goodyear for another 10 years.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was passionate about coin collecting and fishing, hobbies that brought him great joy.
He was also a man of faith, dedicating countless hours to his church community. As a volunteer at the Church of the Living God, he selflessly served in food pantries, organized meals, and contributed to numerous fundraisers, embodying a spirit of kindness and generosity.
Bob’s life will be celebrated at a later date at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
Bob's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His dedication to his family, faith, and country left a legacy of love and service that will never be forgotten.
