Lt Col Royal T. Squires, USAF (ret), passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Memorial Service: Friday @ 11am, Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Ft. Worth. Internment: Friday @ 9am, Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetary Lt Col Squires was born in Corpus Christi to Royal and Maria Viola Squires. He retired from the United States Air Force after 28 years of honorable service. Royal served 2 tours in Vietnam, flying B52s and earned 9 military awards, including:the Marksmanship Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with Six Devices, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Device, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with Device. Royal was stationed at SAC Headquarters and flew the Looking Glass Flying Command Post. Royal was a member of Elks Club and the Petroleum Club. He and his wife June were happily married for 63 years and enjoyed Ballroom Dancing; he also loved playing "boogie woogie" on his piano. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Tom Paulding. Survivors: Wife, June Squires; daughters, Liz Dudley and her husband John, and Terri Squires; grandchildren, Aaron Dudley, Dr. Nikki Dudley Jackson, and Iliana Luna; great-grandson, Elliot Jackson.
