Obituary of Barbara Ann King

Barbara was born in Falls County to Thaddeus and Sammie Lee Hickman on December 8, 1941. Barbara was the first born of six children, three boys and three girls. Barbara attended Commerce Street Elementary and Booker T-Washington High School in Marlin, Texas.

At the age of 18 Barbara met and married the love of her life, James King. To this union one child was born Denice King. Barbara and James moved to Los Angeles in 1964. After James’ death Barbara relocated back to Texas.

Barbara united with Greater Friendship Church under the leadership of Reverend Parish Lowery.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James King; daughter, Denice King; father, Thaddeus Hickman; and sister, Annie Fay Hickman.

Barbara is survived by her mother, Sammie Lee Hickman; brothers, Benny Ray Hickman, Edward Earl Hickman, (Sabine) and Thaddeus Hickman, Jr.; sister, Ida Lee Hunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Estate Rehab and Nursing Home and Alpha Omega Hospice Care.

Visitation: 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6001 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76133.

Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Skyvue Memorial Gardens, 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd, Mansfield, TX 76063.
