Marihelen E. Ligon, 70, of Fort Worth Texas, passed away on April 09, 2024, as she wished at her home.

Marihelen was born on April 15, 1953, in Roswell, New Mexico. Her parents soon gave her two loving sisters. In 1958 the family moved to Amarillo where Marihelen attended school. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1970. Her family were faithful people who went to First Baptist Church for many years where Marihelen met her husband-to-be, Tracy C Ligon. She attended Baylor University in Waco and worked at Hillcrest Hospital. Tracy and she were married on August 14, 1971, while still attending Baylor. The wedding was held at First Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiated by Dr. Winifred Moore, their long-time pastor. Upon graduation, the couple moved to Denton where Marihelen worked as she attended TWU. Working on her major in education. The couple moved to Fort Worth where Tracy was attending Southwestern Baptist Seminary, and both worked at John Peter Smith Hospital for a few years. Marihelen later worked for James Hosler MD in Grand Prairie and retired when he closed his medical practice.

Marihelen was dedicated to the Lord and her family and husband. She enjoyed traveling with her husband during her earlier years, visiting family, friends, relatives, and places she loved to visit. Many trips were made to Amarillo to visit family and First Baptist Church, as well as Shreveport where her parents lived. In later years she spent her time reading, Bible Studies, and caring for her adopted pets. She never let any animal she met go unnamed. She never missed a Sunday morning service from either Agape or Wedgwood Baptist Church with which she worshiped at home with Tracy or visitors.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Edward Ewing and mother, Helen Somers Ewing.

She is survived by her husband, Tracy Ligon of Fort Worth; sisters, Johnette Jameson, of Cedar Creek Lake, and Leslie Espinosa, of Spring Branch, Texas, sister and brother-in-law, George and Carileen Bollinger of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces, grand-nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, and many friends will miss her smiles and personality.

Services will be held at Wedgwood Baptist Church on April 16, at 2:00 pm after visitation at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo on April 18, at 11:00 am with a small service at graveside.
