Mary Jean Schmitz, 85, of Saint Francis Village, Crowley, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2023 in Glen Rose, Texas.

Jean was born in Gainesville, Texas to Edgar Xavier Naughton and Goldie Mae Bell Naughton on March 27, 1938. She attended St. Mary Catholic School, and then Gainesville High School where she graduated in 1956. She married the love of her life Jerome (Jerry) Schmitz a few short years after High School graduation and followed him off to Norfolk, Virginia during his 4 years of Navy service. After moving to Dallas after their service in the Navy, Jean worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and later AT&T from 1966 until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed Genealogy, History, Archeology, and travel throughout the Southwest as hobbies. She especially enjoyed her pet dogs, of which she had several throughout her long life. During their retirement years, Mary Jean & Jerry were active antique and collectible traders on eBay and at a few local antique malls.

Jean is survived by; 5 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 In-Laws, and multiple grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Schmitz; brother, Charles Naughton; and parents, Edgar and Goldie Naughton. .
