Obituary of Clifton Maynard Thomas

On June 22, 2023, Clifton Maynard Thomas, 91, left his earthly body to be with the Lord.

He was born on July 31, 1931, in Abilene, TX. where he spent his childhood during the Great Depression. He had deep seated roots in West Texas most of his life in the town of Post and surrounding communities.

He was a cowboy/rancher and a steward of all things agriculture related for over 25 years. Being forced out of ranching due to droughts and hard times he then went to work for the Lubbock Co. Sheriff's Office where he became Captain and faithfully served citizens for 21 years.

On January 1, 1952, he married the love of his life Mary Margaret and had three children.

Clifton is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret, and his daughter, D’Aun Black.

Clifton is survived by his sons, Morris (Cindy) and Mark (Susan) Thomas, and grandchildren Corbin Black and Kristen Thomas.

A graveside service for Mr. Thomas will be held July 16, 2023, at 10:00 am at Dicey Cemetery, Weatherford, TX.
