GRANBURY - Robert (Bob) Boyd, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. Memorial Service: A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church Granbury, TX at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church (mail address) 202 W. Pearl St. Granbury, TX 76048 or Pecan Plantation EMS, 9518 Monticello, Granbury, TX 76049. Bob was born on May 3, 1927, in Greenville, SC to William and Mabel Boyd. He was a devout Christian and enjoyed his family, work, golf and relating numerous stories of his past in Greenville. He was quite an accomplished athlete in many sports during his youth. Bob began college at Clemson. He served in the Navy at the end of World War II and graduated with a business degree from The Citadel where he lettered two years in football. He spent his entire working career in the carpet business; the last 32 years as the owner of Boyd's Carpet Showroom in Midland, TX, where he raised his family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bill Boyd and mother of his children, Priscilla Boyd. Survivors: Wife, Carol Steele Boyd; children, Bruce Boyd (Lori), Jennifer New (Larry), Timothy Boyd (Dianne), Dinah Zapatka (Tom), Debra Wallace (Nick), Jay Steele (Margaret), Laura Corley (Kevin); sister, Claire Weston and brother, Bud Boyd (Alice); fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
