Obituary of Johnny Lee Wheeler
Johnny Lee Wheeler passed away on March 4, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.
Johnny was born on December 31,1945 to John Edward and Mary Kathryn Wheeler. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School in 1964. People were drawn to John because of his quick wit and engaging personality. John had many talents including knitting beautiful prayer shawls, an excellent cook (his dressing and potato salad will be greatly missed), his ability to grow beautiful plants, especially orchids which he grew in the greenhouse that he built single-handedly. John loved most people and if he didn’t love you, you knew it. He had a great love for animals. He cared for many dogs, cats, rabbits and fish throughout his life, his favorite being Burton, his little yorkie. John was also a caregiver. He took care of our mother during her declining years in our home so that I did not have to put her in a care facility. He was considered to be a “son” of others he cared for when they had no family to care for them.
He will be missed by his sister, Shirley Wheeler Montero and husband Lupe; nieces and nephews, Alicia Babb (Matt), Chad Bowen (Hanna), Chase Bowen (Elizabeth); great-nieces, Jocelyn Bowen, Emma Bowen, Brianna Cortez; great-nephews, Anthony Cortez (Marissa) and Jasek Vallejo; and favorite cousin, Denise Winnett.
A special thanks to Shannon and Dr. Pham at Texas Oncology and Physical Therapist, Paige at FWPT.
