Melvin Don “Poochie” Holloway was born March 17, 1962 to Mary Holloway and Marvin Miller.

Melvin received his education in Fort Worth where he graduated from Trimble Tech with the Class of 1980. Melvin was the mascot and a member of the gospel choir where he found his love for singing and music. 

Melvin was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel AME where he served as the Choir Director to the Senior Choir Male Chorus and Praise Team until his health failed in 2021.

On July 5, 2005 he married the love of his life, Gail Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John White and Marvin Miller; brother, Tyrone Miller; grandmother, Margaret Smith; great-grandmother, Namesake Melvin Patterson; and aunts, Brenda Howard, Rosie Patterson and Denise Holloway.

Leaves to mourn: His wife of 17yrs, Gail and son, Jonathan Holloway; siblings and cousins, Pam Davis, Waymon and Yvonne Bell, Rev. Jimmy and Pat Williams, Charlotte Mims, and Cedric and Bobbie Mitchell; God-children, Jon Mitchell, Kenneth “Bunny” Erkhart, Kailan Smith Jr. and Kelsey Smith; aunts, Verna Williams, Donna Smith, and Pamela Smith; great-aunts, Winnie Tollivar and Francis and Rev. D.L. Ellison; and a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
