Obituary of Elwin "Don" Parish
Don Parish 87, passed away June 1, 2022, after a sudden diagnosis of cancer. Service: 1pm Sunday June 12th at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home 6009 Wedgwood Dr. Fort Worth, Tx 76133. Visitation: 3-5pm Saturday June 11th at the funeral home.
Don Parish was born March 10, 1935, in Rice Texas to Elvis and Ella Parish. He loved people and his family. He was a 35 year Certified General Motors Electrician/Mechanic...”people would drive from miles around just to let him look underneath their hood”. Don was a Singer, Songwriter and Guitar Picker and had written over 100 songs. He never met a stranger and he loved to Karaoke. He served in 3 branches of the service, Army, Navy and Air Force and was honorably discharged from all three.
He loved to Garden and always had the best garden and yard. He made jam, jelly and the best Bread and Butter Pickles. He kept the family fed with fresh fruits and vegetables planted by the light of the moon, the Farmers Almanac. He was an Innovator, he came up with ingenious ways to fix things and solve problems.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dot Parish. They had a tumultuous love affair and he pined for her until he drew his last breath. Now they are together gliding across heaven’s dancefloor.
Survivors:Daughter, Pam Oliver and husband Wayne; Son, Gary Don Parish and wife Janet; grandchildren, Marcus Oliver and wife Cheryl, Amy Oliver, Kristan Medina and husband Dave Nahrstedt, Rachel Parish and wife Nannette, & Kyle Parish; Great grandchildren, Natalie, Eli & River; and numerous nieces and nephews.
