Obituary of Thomas Pryor Gore II
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas P. Gore II, 77, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on Monday, May 18, 2015.
Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 20th, at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Tom will be missed by his many life-long friends and family members who appreciated his loyalty, great humor, and conversation. Enjoying long drives in search of great food, Tom perfected some of his own cooking traditions appreciated by lovers of barbeque, steamed crabs, elaborate breakfasts, and "Goreburgers."
Tom served the community as a commissioned Stephen Minister, ushering at Holy Family Catholic Church, and delivering for Meals On Wheels.
He was a charter member of a group of fishing buddies doing business under the dubious name of "The Fogduckers." In 2010, Tom published a book, "The Potomac Runs Through It" celebrating family, friends, fishing, and the telling of fish stories!
The family of Thomas P. Gore II relocated to Fort Worth, Texas a few months after he was born in Washington, DC. It was a move that literally fulfilled a favorite saying of transplants to that state: "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could!"
He graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. in 1960 and embarked on a seven year U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard military career. His civilian calling turned out to be in public relations, which began in Maryland and eventually led to vice presidencies at the Ochsner Medical Institutions and at Tulane University Medical Center, New Orleans, LA; The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Princeton, NJ; and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
Tom and Marta have made their home in Fort Worth for the past 20 years where Marta continues to advance as an oil painter. Their children and grandchildren live in Texas, Kentucky, New Hampshire and Washington State.
Survivors: Wife of 39 years, Marta; son, Rob Gore; daughters Judy Gaudet Kimmerly, Jessica Buck, Jennifer Gaudet; brother, Thomas Gore; sisters, Betty McDonnell and Nina Brookshier, grandsons Isaac Buck, Nathan Buck, Jesse Kimmerly, and granddaughters Sadie Buck, Hannah and Sarah Frederick.
