Obituary of Herron Kenny Crosswhite

Herron Kenny Crosswhite was born February 9, 1940 in Princeton, Texas to Fred Kemp Crosswhite and Katherine "Kat" Carrie Hooten Crosswhite. Kenny graduated third in his class from Princeton High School and immediately went to work at the First National Bank of Dallas. He attending University of Texas at Arlington, Southern Methodist University, and also attended banking courses at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where he was in the top of his class. He married Durana McCall on November 17, 1962 at the First Christian Church in Carrollton, Texas, and the couple lived in Dallas for several years where they both worked and their first two sons were born. Kenny moved his family to Princeton where he worked with his Father in the dirt contracting business until May 1967, when he assumed duties as bookkeeper/teller at Citizens State Bank in Princeton. During this time Kenny became active in politics, was a member and officer of several local organizations, belonged to the local volunteer fire department, and was appointed Fire Marshall. Having expanded his family to five sons, he took an active interest in PTA and coached Little League Baseball. In April 1979, Kenny left Citizens State Bank as Vice President to become Vice President of Empire State Bank in Rocky Ford, Colorado, a position he held until 1981, when he became Vice President of Farmers State Bank in Brush, Colorado. In 1983, the family returned to Rocky Ford where Kenny was named President of Rocky Ford National Bank. He formed a holding company, Crosswhite Bankshares, which was purchased by Central Bank Corporation, later to become Community Banks of Colorado. Having worked in the banking industry for 45 years, Kenny retired in 2003. H. Kenny Crosswhite is survived by his wife, Durana, sons, Chad Crosswhite of LaJunta, Colorado; Brad Crosswhite of Colbert, Oklahoma; Kyle Crosswhite of Castlerock, Colorado; Lance and wife Paula Crosswhite of Fort Worth, Texas; and Ryan Crosswhite of Ft. Worth, Texas. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Michael Crosswhite of New Bedford, Massachusetts; Timothy Crosswhite of Dallas, Texas; Amanda Crosswhite of Arlington, Texas; Monee' Crosswhite of Las Animas, Colorado; Nathan Crosswhite; Azaiah Crosswhite of Los Angeles, California; Ayden Crosswhite of Pueblo, Colorado, and; Jacob Crosswhite of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister Carole Ann Moore and husband Kenneth of McKinney, Texas, a nephew Richard Moore and family, a sister-in-law, Jo McCall Williams, nieces Erin and Maura Williams, and nephew Jake Williams. Arlyn Lovette and Kenny worked together at each of the named Colorado banks over a 24 year period. Arlyn and Diane Lovette of Rocky Ford, Colorado have remained the Crosswhite's closest friends, and the Lovette's daughter, Stephanie Lovette (of Arizona) is Kenny and Durana Crosswhite's Godchild. Memorial Service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth, Texas.
