Joe West, Sr., passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Graveside Service: 10:30 am Thursday, Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Joe was born on November 22, 1934 in Paris, Texas to Mialma and William D. West. Joe loved to fish with his mother-in-law. Before they put 20 through and messed up Village Creek, we could fish for $1 a car for 24 hours. Fishing was usually pretty good. In 1972, we were in Lexington, Kentucky Joe, myself, and my mother took four kids under 11 years of age camping in the Smoky Mountains. We rented all of our camping equipment and climbed Kingman's Dome. The kids fished in ice cold water, they wanted to wade but one touch of the toes in the water, they changed their minds. We had a good, really good time. Joe was 80, so he had a good long life. We would have been married 55 years August 30. Work history, Joe worked as a clerk for the Department on H.E. W. for nearly 20 years. He also hauled cotton seed hulls and did gin repair. In later years, he did mini-storage management, apartment management and was a custodian for three churches. Survivors: Wife, Elnora West; sons, Joe West, Jr. and Jimmy West; grandchildren., Joe, West, III, Leslie West, and Dylan West; great grandchildren, Hayden Pace, Joe West IV, Jackson Pace, and Ava West.
