Violet Edith Parker, 96, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015. Service: 10 am Thursday, Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr. Interment: 2:30 pm Thursday, Elm Cemetery, Rising Star. Violet Edith Parker was born on May 1, 1919 in Ranger, Texas to Harvey and Bessie Frye. She and her four children followed John Burns all accros the U.S. in his work for the pipelines. She was a homemaker, telephone operator, Avon representative, waitress for Jake & Dorothy's for 20 years, and pulled cotton in her earlier years. Edith loved to dance, go to Las Vegas, play cards and work in her yard. Most of all she loved her family. Edith was preceded in death by her son, Gene Burns. Survivors: Sons, Wayne Burns and wife Donna, and Ronnie Burns; daughter, Carol Burk; grandchildren, Debbie Burns Eason, Jim Burns, David Burns, Lisa Langston, Sherri Isham, and Ashley Balcazar; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany, Justin, Kammi, Justin, Kelci, Luke, Lily, Ellie and Braden; great-great grandchildren, Leo and Jackson.
