Please share a memory of Matsue to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Matsue Nishioka Koscal passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at her home in Fort Worth, with her loving children and grandchildren at her bedside.  Matsue was born in Taipei, Taiwan on August 25, 1929, to Yoneko Nishioka and Mazushi Matsuzaki, and the family moved to Japan when she was a toddler. In 1947, she met her future husband, Albert Koscal, a civilian worker for the Department of Defense. Due to Al’s career, the family relocated many times,  from Japan to Fort Worth, then to Okinawa, then to Germany, and finally to Killeen, Texas. After her husband’s retirement, they moved back to Fort Worth.

Matsue was active in the Fort Worth Japanese Society and served many years as a board member. She was active in the Kurumi Ningyo group and worked on various handicrafts. For the past 30 years, she traveled to Japan on a yearly basis to visit family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her husband, and her mother.

She is survived by her daughter, Irene Koscal of Fort Worth; son, Albert Koscal and wife Cynthia of Bozeman, Montana; daughter, Mary Thomas and husband, Keith of Norman, Oklahoma; grandson, George Thomas and wife Erin of Norman, Oklahoma; grandson, Duncan Thomas and wife Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren Lark and George Thomas.  Matsue will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
