Obituary of Frances Aurelia Smith Goodman

Frances Aurelia Smith Goodman FORT WORTH -- Frances Aurelia Smith Goodman, 90, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015. Service: Her loving family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service at Center Church, 12215 County Road 334 (Center Church Road), Tyler, TX 75708 on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM, to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center Cemetery Fund, 10571 County Road 313 East, Tyler, TX 75706. Internment will follow at the Center Cemetery. Frances was born in Dallas, TX on August 21, 1925, the first of three children to parents Edwin and Nettie Smith. She was raised in Tyler and met her life long love at the age of 18. Truman and Frances were married on February 17, 1944, and had two children, Barbara and Truman Jr. Frances was a proud army wife who enjoyed sewing and bowling among other activities. After the military, the family moved to Dallas where Frances went to work for Sears, Roebuck & Co, in the credit department until her retirement. She loved to travel to Arkansas and Colorado, where she could not pass up a unique looking rock to bring home as a souvenir. Frances loved to collect cookbooks and had a deep, compassionate love for animals, carrying extra food in the event she came upon a stray and instilled this trait in her children. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin A Smith, Sr and Nettie Gaiser Smith, her husband of 51 years, Truman C. Goodman, Sr, and her brother Richard C "Bid" Smith. Survivors: Daughter, Barbara Lee Goodman Reber and husband Ron R Reber; Son, Truman C. Goodman, Jr and wife Carol Diane LeBlanc Goodman; Brother, Edwin A Smith Jr and wife Rita; Grandchildren, Stephanie R. Goertz and husband Joe, Amanda R Reigle and husband Jim, Nicholas A Goodman and Sarah C Goodman; Great Grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle Goertz, and Brayden, Violet and Gavin Reigle, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
