Obituary of Martha Louise Carroll

On Saturday, January 1, 2022, Martha Louise (Burke) Carroll, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 90.

Martha was born on August 3, 1931 in Jacksonville, TX to Clyde and Carrie (Morrison) Burke. After receiving her teaching degree from Texas Wesleyan, Martha taught Special Education and third grade in Corsicana and Fort Worth Texas. She raised four children, Cindy, Laurie, Bruce, and Michael.

Martha loved spending time with her family at the family lake-house at Lake Jacksonville. She and her loving husband, Ed Carroll enjoyed camping at scenic National and State Parks throughout the US. One of her favorite trips was to Alaska on an RV tour where she made several lifetime friends. She enjoyed camping with church friends as well.

Martha was preceded in death by her father, Clyde; mother, Carrie; sisters, Genevieve Luce, Virginia Burke, Ruth Shead; and grandson, Joshua Patterson.

She is survived by her husband, William Edward Carroll; children, Cindy Barnes, Laurie Louthan, Bruce Barnes, Michael Barnes; and grandson, Corey Barnes; step-children, John Carroll and Amy Woodward; brother, James Burke; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth on January 11, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
