He was my mentor, my teacher, my boss and he was my friend. And as bad as I want it to be his equal in radio in voice, talent and creativity my career in radio compared to the life that I have lived was short just as Tom’s however he had a few more fun years in it than I did. :-)
What I didn’t know until today is our paths still remained similar. I learned that Tom became the facilities director for the city of Grapevine. Today some 30+ years after I worked with him I to am the Director of facilities for my company in Fort Worth. and the property where KXOL once stood is now where my wife works. She sits approximately in the same place where Tom‘s office was. That is ironic and a bit comedic. For the rest of my life Tom’s voice will echo in the corners of my mind and I will think of him daily. To Tom’s family, I thank you for the honor of being present at his memorial service and being allowed to share my memories and express my love to the man I believe helped carved my path 36 years ago.
