Reynold Walter Kunz, 86, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021.
Services: A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1800 West Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.
In lieu of flowers donate to Memorial Lutheran School, Houston TX, Little Lambs Scholarship Fund or St. Paul Lutheran School, Fort Worth TX.
Reynold was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born June 25, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, where he attended Holy Cross Lutheran School and Lutheran High School South. Ren graduated from Concordia Teachers College River Forest with a degree in Education.
His first call was as a teacher to Redeemer, Evansville Indiana in 1956, where he met and married his wife of 63 years, Ann Drews. In 1958 he accepted a call to Our Redeemer in Houston Texas where his daughter Enid was born and baptized. In 1963 he accepted his next call to First Lutheran in Knoxville TN. and came back to Texas in 1964 when he became the school Principal at Zion Lutheran in Tomball. He was a teacher and eventually the principal where his son, David was born and baptized at Ascension Lutheran, Houston from 1966 - 1971. He taught at Clear Creek School and was the organist at Faith Lutheran during the 1971 - 1972 school year. In 1972 he became the Director of Christian Education at Faith American Lutheran Church in Bellaire Tx and got his Masters in Education at the University of Houston in August of that year. He then went to Trinity Lutheran School Corpus Christi, TX in 1978 where he was 5th grade teacher and eventually principal. Memorial Lutheran Church extended him a call in 1982 to be the principal for their newly started school which he accepted, built up from 2nd grade to 8th and eventually retired in 1999.
During his retirement years he served as “substitute” organist at St. Andrews Lutheran Church for 6 years. Ren enjoyed working on his model railroads, reading and spending time with his family and friends. His biggest passion was for the Lord and that others would know of his Savior. His greatest love was for his wife Ann.
Reynold is survived by his greatest love, wife, Ann; brother, Gerald; daughter, Enid and husband Charlie; son, David and wife Hilda; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
