Obituary of Larry Wayne Bowles

Larry Wayne Bowles passed away at the age of 75 on May 23rd, 2021. He was a loving father, brother and friend to all. Larry was the second child born to Gene and Louise (Allgood) Bowles and became the apple of his big sister, Elaine’s eye from the day of his birth on January 26, 1946. His family was soon joined by little sister, Judith and half brother James B. Looney. Larry grew up in Burkburnett. When he completed school, he worked for a short time at a service station before beginning a career at Preston Dairy. After working for the dairy for thirty-six years, Preston Dairy closed down. Larry then worked for Oak Farms Dairy for a number of years before retiring. Larry loved football, westerns and most of all, spending time with his friends and family. He could often be found at McDonald’s for breakfast and to catch up on the town’s news. Larry is survived by his sisters Elaine Hubbard of Burkburnett, Texas and Judith Lindsey and her husband, Harold of Wichita Falls, Texas, brother James B. Looney of Sunset, Texas, son Larry Gene and his wife, Amy of Cypress, Texas, son Allen Wayne of Austin, Texas, grandchildren Emma, Zachary, Cameron and Zaley, He also leaves behind family members Monica Young and her husband, Steve of Conroe, Texas, Kellie Backus and her husband, Mike of Burkburnett, Texas, Kurtis Hubbard and his wife, Felicia of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Lance Lindsey and his wife Darcy, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Lacy McGaughey and her husband, Travis and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Louise, brother-in-law C.K. ‘Keith’ Hubbard and his dachshund Buddy. Larry enjoyed life, family members and many friends. He was always there to brighten the lives of others, often with a hearty laugh and a bear hug. A memorial service will be held at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery, in Burkburnett, TX on Saturday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m.to celebrate a life well-lived; all are welcome.
