Ida Bell Oliver, 98, was born to the parentage of Walter Lee and Ethel Russell, March 12, 1923, in Mooringsport, Louisiana, where she attended public school before relocating to Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 16. On December 20, 1958, Ida married Emmett Oliver, Sr., from Brownsville, Texas. To this union, three (3) children were born, Cynthia Oliver-Dixson, Patricia Oliver-Phillips, and Emmett Oliver, Jr. Ida was a truly remarkable woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt and neighbor. She was a woman of many talents: cook, seamstress, fashionista; and a loving, caring woman! She always said, “it doesn’t cost a thing to feed or help someone”, a quote we live by today! She loved her family and lived a humble, forgiving life! She professed a belief and commitment to God at a very early age; earning her wings of Glory by the Grace and Mercy of Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at the amazing age of 98. Ida was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Katherine Choyce Walker, and Cherrie Mae Jones; son, Otis Lee Barber; seven brothers, Walter, Willie and Clarence Lee, Leon, Leroy and Lorenzo Amie; two sisters, Essie Scruggs and Evelyn Brown.
