My Dear Cousins, I am so very sorry for your losses, and so close together, I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this must be for ya'll. I wish you peace, for your parents are together again. I also wish I could assure you that time will heal your wounds, but honestly, I can only offer my experience and the wounds do not heal, scars do not form, love deepens and memories do not fade. Your parents will be with you always, and just when you think you are at a new plateau of acceptance, you will see a man walking away from you in the Target parking lot and you will quicken your step so you can assure yourself it is not your Dad. It will catch you off guard, and you will cry, then laugh, and then be thankful for the opportunity to have had that special moment.
My special memories of Uncle Oliver are numerous, but there is one that really is my most precious and that is the nickname that he gave me, Squirrel. To this day, it brings me joy to know that Uncle Oliver I was special enough to him to have been given a nickname! And guess what? I LOVE the nickname!
I love and miss you all and hope we are able to see you when we get back to Ft Worth again.
Much Love,
Loretta Perkey and Family.
