My name is Gene Carroll and I am the first cousin of Joe Jr. I am saddened to learn of his death exactly one year ago today. I hate to admit that I hadn't talked to Joe Jr. in many years, but always told myself I was going too but regretfully I never did. He was a big influence on me and my twin brother Charles as we grew in sports in Drumright. My Mom and Dad would take us to his Tulsa University games and I was in heaven. I remember Uncle Joe and Joe Jr. came to some of my games to watch and I was so proud to have them there! I told him those stories and I hope he knew how much his influence helped me along the way. Rest in eternal peace my talented cousin you have earned it!

My S/O, Cary Wilson, met Joe in Tulsa in 1989. Joe moved to DFW to expand our company, American Environmental Specialties Inc. He helped us grow into one of the biggest Asbestos Abatement Companies in Texas. The 3 of us caught many a fish together. He was a big, grumpy, teddy bear that would pitch in and help any time you asked. Even after he moved on, we fed each other jobs when we were too busy, we loaned workers and supervisors when we were short on a crew, etc. We helped each other. Because we knew we could trust each other. I always called him "Big Joe" and I think he liked it. We miss him and will always smile when we remember some of his antics and laugh. RIP Big Joe, you earned it.

How we will miss our precious Joe. He came into my life a few years ago when he started dating my sister, Rebecca. His first evening with us was on Christmas Eve and he blew me away. He was engaging, interested, interesting, and fit right in with our family. We all liked him immediately and grew to love him in no time. He and my mother adored each other and there was nothing he would not do for her. And how he loved my sister - no greater gift could he have given us. Have a great time up in Heaven, dear Joe. You can meet my Rocky, Otis, Griffin and Aspen and give them all a hug for me. We love you - & will meet you up there one day.

Joe came into my life about 3 years ago when he started dating my sister Rebecca. What a great guy. He immediately fit right into our family & was always so open, engaging, kind, helpful & happy. He was a blessing to all of us. God only gave him to us for a few years - but what years they were. Thank you Joe for shining your light on us. Your loss leaves a hole in our hearts.

When Randy called me I could by believe it. The 3 of us had been friends (brothers) for a long time. I will cherish the memories and our time spent talking Golf, cars , times past and our desires for the future . I am reminded of the closing line in Dances with Wolves as Wind in his hair shouts from the top of a cliff to Dances With Wolves and I paraphrase here, with our names added. "Brother Joe this is Bruce! I want you to know that I am your friend , I Will always be your friend!"I Love you my Brother!

Rebecca - I am sooooo sorry for your loss! I know he definitely wasn't ready to go - he had a lot of life left in him. He was a good/fun person to work with. He had a great sense of humor. Joe would always ask how I was doing during my treatments and even after I had been done for a while. He was a very caring individual! He will be greatly missed.
And Rebecca - I still have a great memory of the last time the 3 of us sat down and visited at the last AMX Christmas Party in 2019. You two were great and I missed seeing you this past December since everything was on shutdown.
My Thoughts and Prayers are with you!

Joe and I have been friends for over fifty years. We first met at Gilcrease Junior High School in Tulsa. We had many good times together over the years. Whether it be as teenagers cruising the ‘Restless Ribbon’ in Brookside and engaging in not so legal drag races, or in recent years attending classic car auctions and playing lots of golf in great places with many great adventures in between.
Joe was a great guy with a tremendous sense of humor and witty personality. Whenever I spent time with Joe I always knew there would be plenty of one liners and laughs to be had. He was a very loyal and supportive friend who would do anything for you and you always knew you could count on him. He was a one-of-a-kind individual with his own views and opinions which he was always willing to share (whether you asked for them or not).
He was my best friend, and it is hard to believe he is gone. I love you brother and you will be missed. Rest in peace Junior.
Rebecca we are sorry for your loss our sympathy and support is with you. Randy and Becky Lasater.

I had the privilege of being a teammate of Joe's at TU. I've included a photo of our 1974 pitching staff. That ball club finished 7th in the final Associated Press poll of NCAA Division 1 college teams. Joe was a good friend off the field and someone who competed hard on the field. Always a guy you liked to have on your side. My condolences to Rebecca and all of us who knew and loved him.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe Carroll a few years back, and had known of him through the industry for longer than that. Joe was something else, a real special person... His quick wit & humor would bring you laughing to your knees in a minute, his stories would keep you intrigued as he had so many experiences. I appreciated his vast knowledge and learned a lot from him during our time working together. There wasn't anything Joe wouldn't do to help someone...
Joe was loved by many and will dearly be missed. Rest in Peace Joe.
