James Ray Dye, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, Crossway Baptist Church, 10417 Old Cleburne Crowley Jct, Crowley, TX 76036. James Dye was born on March 24, 1945 to Odis Lavonne and Celestine Cain Dye in Paris, Mississippi. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years. James married the love of his life, Carroll Alice Roberts on February 18th, 1967 and they had four children. James loved his family passionately. To him, family was also more than blood. If James knew you, he loved you. He was a people person and would talk to anyone. His pride and joys were his two grandchildren and great grandson. No one loved more fierce than PawPaw. He, alongside his wife, fostered numerous babies during his retirement. He fostered right up to the day he had his stroke. He was PawPaw to so many people. James was a loyal employee at UPS (United Parcel Service) for 39 years before he retired. He made many life long friends from UPS. He loved smoking ribs and chicken and was known by many as a wonderful cook. James had another passion, fishing. He often told stories of fishing with his mom and dad when he was younger. He would tell you he could smell the fish and would drop his hook and snag one. He was preceded in death by his father-Odis Dye, mother-Celestine Cain Dye, and his sister-Tish Howard. James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carroll Dye; children, James and Cherie Dye, Mary (Janie) Dye, Jeannie Dye, and Julie Dye; granddaughter, Jamielynn Dye; grandson, Zachariah Dye; great-grandson, Levi James Dye; and brothers, Lavonne and Cheryl Dye, David and Judy Dye, Gerald and Linda Dye, & Roger and Brenda Dye and Sister-Pam Dye; and numerous nieces and nephews (greats and great-greats) and numerous foster babies who were his heart, including his best girl, Piper Ann.
