Obituary of Don Wesley Ellison
Please share a memory of Don to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Don was born April 21, 1941, in Wesley, Texas. The son of R.C. and Margie Ellison.
He attended Texas Christian University for two years and completed his desired education at UNT. Mr. Ellison retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 44 years. To this day, no one really understands what he did professionally. That included his immediate supervisors. However, his lovely wife, Kaye, describes it as “Entertainment Director”.
Don was truly dedicated in love to his wife, Kaye, his daughter, Sharon, and her husband, James, and pet dog (aka as his son), Charlie. Don cared for his wife and family in a way few will ever experience or know. He embraced his friends in much the same manner with love and respect. Mostly, he loved taking their money in liar’s poker. But that’s a story for another day. Among his favorite money games, he enjoyed dominos (specifically 42) with his best-loved buds, Andy Broome, Terry Riddle, Sy Ciesynski, Ed Muncy, Steve Fyock, J. Jackson and many, many others. Always keeping the captain’s chair during these games. Don really enjoyed outside grilling for his friends and special events. He enjoyed golf, fishing and vacations near the water. His favorite vacation spot being Florida’s gulf coast, Destin, though Hot Springs was a close second. I’d love to be at the Ohio Club with him right now. Or, the penny slot machines where he always managed to make more money then he deposited.
He will be missed by so very many. And now he’ll be with his many friends who have passed before him.
Don was preceded in death by his father, R.C. Ellison, his mother, Margie Ellison, and his brother W.C. Ellison.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Kaye Helen Ellison, daughter, Sharon Nelms and husband James Nelms of Fort Worth, Texas.
