Obituary of Joan Eidson
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Sunday morning, May 3rd, Joan, or (Mamaw) as she was affectionately known,
took the ride of her life, to her heavenly home, to be with her heavenly Father, and her Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ.
She now begins a new and precious chapter of her eternal life.
And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal life. John 2:25
And THIS IS LIFE ETERNAL that they might know Thee, the only true God, (Father)
and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.
In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again
and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14: 1,2,3
Joan was born in Gateshead, England. She was the 3rd of 5 children born to John, an Officer in
the British army, and Christina Crombie. Her siblings were: Betty, John Jr., Marjorie and Ralph.
Her father was killed in France, in the war, and received the distinguished Purple Heart, for his brave service. Joan was 6 at the time, and had just returned home after being evacuated to Scotland, for a year. Life, for her, twisted at that point. She was taken and raised by a Grand-
mother, and worked very hard. She never really got to experience childhood and early teen years in a normal manner. At fifteen, she graduated from school, moved back to her mother's house and began to take control of her own life.
She joined the British army at 17. At nineteen she met and married an American, Air Force Sergeant, named Don Eidson. He was the love of her life, and she was his. They had two children:
Don and Arlene.
In 1967, they returned to the U.S., to live out their lives. Don married Dorothy Blackford, and had 3 children: Debbie, Donald, and Becky. Arlene married Steve Strinko and had two children: Steven and Aaron. Three beloved nieces: Irene, Karen and Lynette also shared their home, from time to time. Joan was greatly beloved, by many nieces and nephews, at home and abroad.
Joan's life took a complete change, in the mid-70's. She and her son were born-again.
She received the 'free', amazing, gift, of a totally new life from Christ. In the early 90's, the Lord touched and healed her, from several major diseases, brought her from death, and gave her forty extended years of life.
Her son, Don, began and pastored the Cornerstone of Faith Church, in Fort Worth, Texas, for nearly 30 years, before going home to be with the Lord, in 2012. Mamaw was a faithful intercessor, prayer warrior, and major part of that ministry.
Many precious, greatly beloved, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews were added to her faith family, during those Cornerstone years. We love our faith family that God has blessed us with!
Another beautiful, body of believers, from Worth Baptist Church, in Fort Worth, have been so kind and have blessed her life multiple times, during these last six years.
Mamaw not only was a grandmother, she was a great-great grandmother, leaving quite a legacy!
Her grandchildren are: Debbie, Randy, Donald, Angela, Becky, Jason, Steven, Julie, Aaron and Amy. Her great-grandchildren are: Sydney, Daniel, Hannah, Sarah-Beth, Desiree, Jayden, Hendrix, Jonathan, Nathanael, Ruby, Timothy, Samantha, Bethany, Summer, Alex, Allison and Anthony. Her great-great granddaughter is Faith. Echo and Bobbi-Jean are also a beloved part of the family.
How blessed to have her life so rich, through so many that loved her, and blessed her life, throughout these years. She was and always will be an amazing lady! We would also like to thank Smiley and Susan Irvin for the blessing they were to us many years ago.
I (Arlene) brought out, and looked through, our photo albums, a day or so ago. I laughed and smiled through each book. I could visibly see the love, laughter, and relationships, that will be cherished forever! My mom agreed with me many times, that we have been truly blessed of the Lord. Thank each and everyone of you for that.
My moms' number one desire would be that each person would come to love God, and His Son, Jesus Christ, as their God and Savior, as she did. Jesus paid the ultimate price to make that possible.
Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil
world, according to the will of God and our Father. Galations 1:4
That all who knew her would be born-again. For Jesus said:
Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:5
Ye must be born again. John 3:7
Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be
saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of His Son: much more, being reconciled,
we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:9, 10.
That each would receive His awesome gift of eternal life. That throughout ages to come, we might worship and serve our Creator, and enjoy life, together, beyond our wildest dreams!
My mom is in heaven. The Bible says:
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present
with the Lord. 2nd Corinthians 5:8
Only the body is left behind. It too, according to the Bible, will be raised and made incorruptible, at the time of the rapture. Another of God's many promises, to all that are His, when He returns. This is what the Apostle Paul told the church at Thessalonica:
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep,
that ye sorrow not, even as them which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus
died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain
unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord
Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,
and the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are
alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet
the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1st Thessalonians 4:13-17
Her body will be buried at the beautiful, Dallas ~ Fort Worth National Cemetery, off of I-20.
2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, in Dallas.
Due to Covid-19, no services are allowed at this time. Perhaps a luncheon, at a future time, like
Marge (Grandmother) had. I have not received a date, yet, as to when her body will be taken there.
I will post that information when it comes. All will be welcome to join us in that.
I pray that you remember pleasant and fond times, and seasons of her life, with us. And rejoice that she made it to her heavenly home! Please post a special time or memory.
With love,
Arlene
