Lorenzo Davis (Cassie) age 66. He began life on August 7, 1953 in Saint Louis, Missouri at Homer G. Phillips Hospital. Lorenzo passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Fort Worth, Texas. Lorenzo was the second child born to the marital union of Howard Louis Davis and Lorraine Alma Worley Davis. The family of 8 children lived in Bay View Naval Housing for years, but moved to Emerald Hills Estates in San Diego, CA. The family home sat at the edge of many canyons which was the perfect place for a brilliant young boy who had dreams of mastering his environment to explore and live in. He never felt like a child. He always had visions of greatness. He was a voracious reader concerning great wars fought by the United States military. As a young boy he designed and built an airplane to fly high over the canyon with his baby brother Carlton as the pilot. His mother ran out to pull Carlton from the plane. Lorenzo explained to her it was no need to worry because the plane was well designed. Whatever Lorenzo set out to do he did it well. He was a huge risk taker with no apprehension of the outcome. Lorenzo was a born first responder, because he was naturally courageous and fearless, he always ran toward the danger to help others regardless of harm to himself. He loved music and taught himself to play the drums much to his mom’s distress. Lorenzo went Gompers Jr. High school and Wright Brothers High School in San Diego. High School was not mentally stimulating for him although he was a gifted and talented student although he never graduated from high school. Being confined to a classroom frustrated Lorenzo. He explored a world that had no limitations. He went through life on his own terms. His course of study was not the conventional path, but it suited his goals. One of which as a youth he dreamed of serving in the United States Marines. In 1971 he earned a GED, the same year he was scheduled to graduate. Instead of attending class, he just decided to take the test. His interests were many and excelled at everything he did. Lorenzo was a Vietnam War Era veteran. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps being activated on 12/30/71 and honorably discharged on 7/21/75. His specialty was Aircraft Maintenance. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. Lorenzo achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. Lorenzo was a proud Marine which encouraged his daughter Toccara and son Rulon to follow in his footsteps. Lorenzo was married to Sylvia in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA on August 30, 1980; they were married for 40 years. Lorenzo Davis earned the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Management on October 24, 1997 from DeVry Institute of Technology. From Keller Graduate School of Management, he earned the degree of Master of Project Management on December 22, 2013. From Keller Graduate School of Management, he earned the degree of Master of Business Administration on December 22, 2013. After leaving the Marine Corps Lorenzo worked for John Hancock as an insurance agent. Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center as an accountant. Lorenzo worked for many years in San Diego, CA as a Firefighter-EMT. Earthlink Network Inc, Pasadena. Intermedia Partners, Hollywood. Computer Network Innovations, Canoga Park. DeVry University, Ontario, CA. He worked for many years as a Network Engineer with the following companies; Hughes Stx Corporation, Lanham, MD. Comms People Inc, Wakefield, MA. Brooks College Ltd., Los Angeles. Affiliated Computer Services, Los Angeles. Ventus Technology Solutions, El Segundo, CA. United States Veterans Initiative, Inglewood, CA. Strategic Networking Solutions. TGC Inc., Long Beach. Disney Corporate, Burbank, CA. Southwest Escrow Corp., Inglewood, CA. Lorenzo loved his family first and foremost, devoted to his wife, supportive of his children and adoring to his grandchildren. Lorenzo loved to play golf. He shared this hobby with his best buddies. In his pastime he enjoyed was watching all sports, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, golf, everything competitive. CHARITIES/ORGANIZATIONS: Disabled American Veterans, The Salvation Army, Southern Poverty Law Center, Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA). Lorenzo Davis is survived by his wife Sylvia Bailey Davis originally from San Bernardino, CA, his son Aaron Wilhite, daughter Toccara Davis, son Rulon Davis, Sela Davis and daughter Ayriana Davis. He left 8 grandchildren, Savanna Wilhite, Laiya Onyenegecha, Nevaeh Dawson, Timothy Dawson, Rowen Davis, Sophia Davis, Elijah Davis and Aviyah Davis. He left 5 siblings, Howard E. Davis, Charles Davis (Cynthia Davis), Vickie Davis, Alma Hicklin (Derrick Hicklin), Sterling Davis and sister-in-law Pam Davis. Lorenzo leaves a host of nieces and nephews Including Frances East, Stephanie East, Tiffany Davis, Justin Francis (LaQuetta), Briana Washington, Joseph B. Washington, Christina Davis, Lorenzo Washington, Kenny Vaughn, Brittany Davis, Carlee Davis, Monique(Cody), Blake, Christione Boyd, Darrion and Diamond Lovemore, Zandra, Rian, Dontae Davis, Nehemiah Davis, Jada, Joelseth, Janessa, Julissa. Very close family, Uncle Charles Davis (Cherisse), Aunt Arlilian Burris, Uncle Edward Worley, Uncle Leroy, Cousin Dennis Burris (Ellen) and Rhonda and Rhoda Siggers, and many beloved friends. Lorenzo was preceded in death by both of his parents Howard L. Davis (April 10, 2011), Lorraine A. Davis (February 29, 2008), brother Carlton Louis Davis (July 20, 2011), sister Belinda Ann Davis (August 4, 2018). Lorenzo had a strong love for the Lord. His love for the Lord was shown by his generosity, non-judgmental personality, his quickness to forgive and his love for his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. His character is written in John 15:13 “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” He would go out of his way to help a stranger. His mother would always say “Lorenzo had a heart of gold.” A celebration of Lorenzo's life will be Friday August 6, 2021 10:00am to Noon at New Life Christian Covenant Church. 2130 Saipan Drive, San Diego Ca. 92139.
