Winifred Joyce (Johnson) Wilson, 85, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on April 6, 2020. Winifred was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, the daughter of Fridolph and Clara (Wassberg) Johnson. She graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) R. Wilson on April 2, 1955 in San Bernardino, CA. William said he knew he wanted to marry her the first time he saw her, but fell in love with her when he heard her beautiful singing voice. Winifred attended college in California and Texas. She was retired from the US Border Patrol. She enjoyed reading, sewing, writing, opera, classical music, and singing. She was a member of International Toastmistress, the Denton Bach Society, and the National Organization for Women. She was a skilled artist with her use of words. She wrote beautiful poetry and stories, and had remarkable communication skills. Winifred was a resident of Denton, TX for 46 years, and a member of Denton Bible Church. She loved God, her family, horses and traveling. Winifred is survived by her brother, David (Barbara) Johnson of Oakland, CA; her son Thomas (Lynda) Wilson of Highland Village, TX; five daughters Carmen (Frank) Jeschke of Deming New Mexico; Rebecca Baskin of Granbury, Texas; Laura Wilson of Mena, AR; Marylee Grasso of Snow, OK; and her adopted granddaughter Selah (Benjie) Adams of Waxahachie, TX; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Wilson; parents; sisters, Eleanor, Marie, Edith and Ruth; and brothers, Paul, Clarence and Victor.
