Obituary of Michael Evans Hudon

Michael Hudon, 70, died at his home in Arlington on March 31, 2020. Though born in Nashua, New Hampshire, Michael grew up in Arlington, and considered himself a true Texan at heart. During his childhood in Arlington, Michael helped out at his family’s restaurant, The Flying Dutchman. After graduating in the first senior class at Sam Houston High School, he studied studio art at North Texas State University in Denton, where he met Jean, his first wife. Michael and Jean moved to Dallas, where their daughter Elizabeth was born. He spent his early career building exhibits at the Dallas Museum of Natural History, and was always proud of his years working for the museum. In the mid-1980s he returned to Arlington, and lived close to his parents. Michael re-married, and his career shifted towards commercial drafting. He spent many years as a draftsman for architectural millwork firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Michael helped care for his mother, Betsey after his father Vic died in 1997. Caring for her became an important part of his life, and he was deeply saddened by her loss in the fall of 2019. Throughout his life, cats were his constant and beloved companions. In addition to his house cats, Michael was always feeding strays in his neighborhood, and he volunteered with a trap and release program for feral cats. Michael enjoyed photography, and flowers were a favorite subject. He particularly loved the mechanical side of photography, and once built his own darkroom. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth; his three grand-children, Isabel, Beatrice, and Bear; his sister, Anne and brother-in-law Chris; his niece, Marichen and nephew Graham; his former wives and partner, Jean, Jurene, and Diana; and several cousins. A funeral service was held at Thompson and Son Funeral Services in Fort Worth, with private burial at Parkdale Cemetary in Arlington. Donations in remembrance of Michael can be sent to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County.
