Mrs. Thelma "Darling" Thomas, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
Visitation: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2020, at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Greater Worth Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2108 Mckinley Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76164.
Interment: Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 8301 Mansfield Hwy, Arlington, TX 76001.
Darling was born May 6, 1930 in Everman Texas, to Lela Mae Davis & Joe McClain. As a child, she played softball, track relays and volleyball. Her favorite toy as a child was a doll. She stated that it was the only thing that they really had. She also enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo, going to church and playing with her friends.
She attended Everman Elementary, Clinton Avenue, Carver and I. M. Terrell. Her worst subject was math. During school she participated in track, softball and volleyball. Her favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me", and she was a longtime member of the Greater Worth Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a devoted housewife and later became a professional cook. She chose this profession due to the fact that she simply loved cooking.
When asked what was the one thing she wanted people to remember about her, she stated, "That I am a loving, caring and respectful Christian individual."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelly Thomas; daughter, Beverly Nell Killingsworth; and brothers, Willie D. McLoften, Shelly Jean Williams and Arther Ray Davis.
Survivors: Children, Myrtle Dean Thomas, LaVon Jeanette Thomas; grandchildren, Marcus Thomas and wife Patricia, and Jinnell Killingsworth; great grandchildren, Trinity Thomas, Lela Rose Lee, and Cameron Thomas; son-in-law, Jimmy Killingsworth; niece, Paulette Thompson; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
