Richard Clive Farmer, Jr., 73, the Lord called him home on October 24, 2019.

Visitation: 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019, Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133. 

Graveside Service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX.

Rick was born on December 17, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Richard Clive Farmer and Lois Burnett Farmer. He spent 9 years in the Air Force. After the Air Force, he graduated from TCU with a master’s degree. Rick was a choir member of Genesis United Methodist Church which was his favorite form of worship. Rick was a kind man with a big heart. He participated in citizens police and fire academies of Fort Worth. He volunteered at JPS and Baylor All Saints hospitals. Rick was also a member of Code Blue. He was an avid sports fan and reader. Rick enjoyed playing golf. He was a loyal husband and a loving father who was fondly called the king of corny jokes. He loved and was loved by his family and friends. Rick enjoyed being with his family and the one thing that would continue to make him smile, through his battle, was his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of James L. West and Community Hospice for their incredible care and support.

He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Doug Pate.

Survivors: Wife, Mary Farmer; daughter, Erika Savoy and husband Keith; son, Brian Farmer and wife Michele McNamara; grandchildren, Lauren Grace Savoy, and Pate Alexander McNamara; brothers, Ken Farmer and wife Marcia, and Gene Pate and wife Kim; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family; and loving beagle shepherd, Tasha.
