Obituary of Shawn Patrick Dixon
It is with great sadness that the family of Shawn Patrick Dixon announces his passing on October 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with throat cancer. Shawn was born on September 23, 1964 in Cherry Point, North Carolina. He graduated from Park View High School in Sterling Park, Virginia in 1982 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1984 where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He later attended a technical school where he learned computer programming and worked in this field for over 20 years until he retired in 2013. He also worked with his wife part-time in the Allstate Insurance business they opened in 2010.
Shawn was an avid golfer and spent countless hours practicing each day. He had a hole in one in June 2005 at the Four Seasons in Irving, TX. He was huge sports fan who loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed working out, traveling, and spending time with his family. Over the past several years, he travelled to several countries including Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Tahiti, China, Japan, and went on several Caribbean cruises with family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Dixon and his son, Corey Dixon. He is survived by his father Stanley Dixon, wife Lori Dixon, daughters Kimberly Dixon and Danielle Johnson (Chris), and sons John Masterson, Tyler Dixon, Trevor Dixon, and Collin Meester. He had four grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Warren “Buddy” Dixon (Tammy), Melissa Garner (Steve), Dawn Dann (Kris), and Kristie Meixner (Robert).
Family and close friends are invited to attend a celebration of life party at the Embassy Suites DFW South on November 2, 2019. Attendees are asked to bring a photo of Shawn with a favorite memory written on the back to share with the family.
