Obituary of Janice Cheryl Polk
James C. and Pearl Brown welcomed the earthly arrival of their baby girl, Janice Cheryl Brown on September 25, 1952. She was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, with three brothers and three sisters.
Janice was a 1971 graduate of the Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth.
Janice married Dwayne E. Polk in April 1970. This union bore a beautiful baby girl, and they named her LaShanua Polk. Later Janice gave birth to two boys, Christianson J. Terry and James C. Brown.
Janice began her working career as a manager in the business office of the Majestic Liquor Co. Later, Janice went to work at Medical Plaza Hospital.
Then, here comes another bundle of joy and she named Cach’e Polk.
Janice was a member of Holy Tabernacle Church, under of the leadership of Pastor Lillie Jo Hobbs. Later, she frequently attended the New Spirit of Prayer Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Williams.
Just one day after Janice’s transition to Heaven, the love of her life, Arthur Lee Kelly, Jr., joined her in their Heavenly home.
Janice was preceded in death by: Her parents, James C. Brown and Pearl Brown; brothers, Herschel Freeman, and Don Freeman; sisters, Hazel M. Moore, Valencia D. Hudson, and Helen J. Thornton.
Janice leaves to cherish her precious memories: Her children, LaShanua Polk-Calamease (Dwayne), Christianson J. Terry (Kristal), James C. Brown, Sr. (Laundon), Cach’e Polk-Bridges (Derrion); brother, James Freeman (Betty); brother-in-law, Eddie Moore; 14 grandchildren, Brittney Polk, Cecil Gillis, Davion Phillips, Anthony Paige, Evan Polk, Christianson J. Terry, Jr., Jade Terry, James C. Brown, Jr., Semaj Brown, Camren Terry, Tra’Vion Terry, Rylee Polk, Robyn Young, and Carter Bridges; Five great grandchildren, Christiney Brown, Bralynn Brown, Kayla Phillips, Eri’Anne Polk, and Messiah Phillips; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Calvary's Nation of Faith Church, 1634 E Vickery Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76104.
Interment: Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Arlington, TX.
