Obituary of Neamat Matta Hakim

Please share a memory of Neamat to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Neamat Matta Hakim, 96, passed away peacefully and entered the gates of heaven on August 21, 2019 in her home in Colleyville, Texas.

She was born on March 11, 1923, in Luxor, Egypt, the youngest of 8 children of the late Matta and Yasmine Boctor. She was predeceased by her late husband of 45 years, Hakim A. Hakim. She is survived by her daughter, Lina Assaad, her son Samuel Hakim, 5 grandchildren (Mark and Alan Assaad; Jacob, Sarah, and Matthew Hakim) and 4 great-grandchildren (Samuel, Lina Grace, Ana and Andrew Assaad).

Neamat was a selfless, kind, loving, and delightful person who could shine joy and peace on all those around her, no matter what the circumstances. She was a homemaker, educator, cook, seamstress, and a gifted musician. She and Hakim sacrificed much after they moved their family from Egypt in 1969 to make a better life for their family in the US. They in turn helped many other families to do the same. She left an extraordinary legacy in all the lives she touched, especially her children and grandchildren.

Her daughter, Lina, and several caregivers (especially Simert) lovingly cared for her during the last few years of her life. The family gives them their warmest gratitude for all they did for her.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Colleyville at 11 am on Monday, August 26, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Coptic Orthodox Church in Cairo are appreciated for aid to the poor Christians in Upper Egypt (send to St Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church, 1110 John McCain Rd, Colleyville, TX 76034).
