I am TRULY saddened to have JUST learned —Saturday, 10/26/2019–that my FANTASTIC #FWCD Softball Coach & English teacher—Anne Robinson—died last June.
This morning, I saw a quote that reminded me of Anne—& I sent her a FB Messenger message, not knowing of her death: ”A GOOD COACH can change a game, but a GREAT COACH can change a life,” and I added, “THANK YOU for changing mine!”
Anne, you ARE being missed!!!!! I couldn’t even finish reading your obituary, initially, because of my tears for you.

As Ms. Robinson’s student (1973-1977), I learned to embrace and love good literature. She also acted as my Chaperone on my first Bob Balch Crested Butte Ski Trip as I was only in 8th grade. I remember her as kind, sarcastic, funny and provocative. Rest In Peace Ms. Robinson.

Anne, you will be missed but always remembered as a lover of all things that represented beauty and light. From your words, to your fight for animals and justice for peace, your spirit now soars with those you have blessed along this journey. Thank you for educating so many of us and remaining in our lives as you fought for your own. God Bless

To a shy teenage girl, Ms. Robinson was quite a presence. Those special courses in literature of power, war and romance influenced me forever, as did getting my first D on a paper my senior spring, then sitting down with her one on one, when she finally got through to me how to write a paper. I feel like my writing ability is my CDS trademark and I owe it to her. We connected on facebook about ten years ago and I thanked her. Ironically we went through cancer journeys at the same time, hers being tougher and persistent. But what a model of peaceful perseverance even while her beloved fur babies came to the end of their time on earth one by one. That of course made room for more and loving new pups more than likely was a great distraction this year of the battle. I will miss her posts, personality, and passions, and will never forget her influence in my life from 15 to 50+. I envision her surrounded in light and love. My heart goes out to her family and my fellow students.

We were Anne’s neighbors for many years and enjoyed hours of conversation and laugh about pets, literature, politics and life in general while listening to her favorite jazz music. We also indulged in brunches and martinis and casual times together at one another’s homes. We had so many laughs with her! She and I had some cooperative chats about Breast Cancer, survivor to survivor. She was a loyal friend. We will her very much.

I have never met Anne. We became friends back in the MySpace days and continued our social media friendship on Facebook. I enjoyed following her wisdom, humor and love for animals. Rest easy, Anne. Perhaps we will meet on the other side. ❤️

Anne was a kind and dedicated educator — she didn’t simply dispense knowledge — she made you THINK! She didn’t simply teach English either — she taught LIFE! No teacher’s influence has had a greater impact on my life, on my career decisions, or on my day-to-day outlook. Rarely a day passes that she does not come to mind. She even pops into my head as I’m getting dressed!! (I’d be curious to know how many other men have the same thoughts I do as they adjust their foundation garments — if so, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.) She taught me about manipulation and how to spot it. She taught me about relationships. She taught me how to be a boss and how to serve one. She taught me how to negotiate, about personal grooming, and how to stay focused and upbeat in a world that continuously beats you down like Whack-a-Mole. She was a true mentor and friend. She knew me before I even knew myself, taught me to love myself, and cheered me on from this side of the planet through my own battle with cancer. We sat down and had a beer together on a recent visit to Fort Worth and talked about everything from societal evils to the search for love. I will always regret not finding time for a visit on my last trip home in December. She passed away just two days prior to my US arrival on Tuesday — I was hoping to see her in the hospital, hold her hand, and give her a kiss on the cheek this week. It was the least I could do for a woman so great. Regardless, I know Anne wouldn’t want us to be sad. She’d want us to keep going, and to keep being the people that she helped us become. In that way, Anne lives forever on this spiritual plane, just as she surely continues her journey on another. Thanks, Anne, for everything, and especially for your friendship, your love, your empathy, your passion and your compassion. You taught us how to THINK and how to BE. I love you.

What a beautiful woman and what an amazing mind! I am so fortunate to have known her and to have had her as a teacher at FWCDS. She was a blessing to so many! My condolences to her family. She will be dearly missed.
