Obituary of Jerry Lynn Lindsey

Jerry Lynn Lindsey (Pepa), 77, of Weatherford, Texas, lost his 4-year battle with colon cancer on March 19, 2019, surrounded by his family at home.

Jerry will have a Celebration of Life memorial service at the Chapel at Polytechnic United Methodist Church at Texas Wesleyan University, 1310 South Collard Street, Fort Worth, TX 76105, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to the American Cancer Society to be made in Jerry’s name.

He was born to parents Elton and Bonnie Lindsey, on May 17, 1941, in Denison, Texas. Jerry graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, TX in 1960. He joined the 112th armored division of the National Guard of the United States in 1960. While in the National Guard he also worked for Fort Worth National Bank as an IBM operator. After exiting the National Guard in 1966, Jerry worked as a bus driver for the Fort Worth transportation authority. He started working for Tarrant County Junior College as a mail courier in 1975 from which he retired in 1999. After working a short stint at Zacks Nursery in Weatherford, TX, Jerry went back to work as a mail courier for Tarrant County College in 2002 and again retired in 2014.

While working for Tarrant County Junior College, Jerry went to work for Security Couriers where he met and married the love of his life Jeanne Lindsey, in 1984, who survives him. Jerry is also survived by his brother Larry Lindsey of Yuma, AZ, his aunt Nancy (Raymond) Fowler of Anacortes, WA, his children Danny (Lisa) Lindsey of Azle, TX, Lynnette (Michael) Henshaw of Mansfield, TX, and Darrell Lindsey of Grand Prairie, TX, and his grandchildren Adriana (Kendall) Baker of Fort Worth, TX, Emilee (Jared) Gipson of Alvarado, TX, Wiley Lindsey of Azle, TX, Kaylee Byther of Mansfield, TX, and Madison Lindsey of Lake Worth, TX. He is also survived by two great grandchildren Rhett and Walker Gipson of Alvarado, TX.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Elton and Bonnie Lindsey of Bellingham, WA and sister Melessa Katzenberger of Bellingham, WA. He is also preceded in death by the mother of his children Glenda Zimmerman of Mansfield, TX.

Jerry was a hard-working and loving man. He always worked hard to provide everything he could for his family. Jerry was known for his love of Dale Earnhardt, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. He could be spotted often sporting his favorite color of yellow with his trademark hat and beard. He loved his dogs Daisy and Lady. He enjoyed camping with his family, traveling with his wife, and going to sporting events with his children and grandchildren.
