Obituary of Donald Arthur Potts
Don Potts, 82, originally from Tulsa, OK, and who lived in Fort Worth, TX since 1970, passed away on October 31, 2018, at his home in Fort Worth, TX from the complications of Lung Cancer.
Reception: 10 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 2198, 3550 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX 76133.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with Father William Stanford, officiating.
Internment will follow in the Memory Garden at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.
Aaron Potts and Brandon Wilkins will perform the internment of Don's cremains in the Memory Garden.
Memorials may be given to Cancer Care Services in Fort Worth, TX or the the Outreach Ministry of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church 3550 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth.
Don was born in Tulsa, OK on July 28, 1936. He spent his formative years in Tulsa, OK. And went into the Marine Corps in 1954 serving in 3rd Marine Division until 1957, with stations at Okinawa, Japan and San Diego, CA. Don was married to Carol K. Nicholson from 1959 to 1961. His son, James was born from the union. He graduated from Tulsa University with a Bachelors in Business in 1961. He married his wife of 52 years, Mary Hosford, on September 22, 1966 in Seattle, WA. He worked for Boeing for years and moved to Texas when he got a job with General Dynamics. Don was an entrepreneur who owned Wedgwood Mobil, Southcliff Mobil, Trail Lake Mobil, Don's Wrecker Service, Don's Toys, Comics and Collectibles, Antiques and various other ventures including land and cattle. Don was involved in The Elks Lodge for many years, active in his church, St. Christopher's Episcopal, and was a proud Marine for life.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Therrel Potts, in-laws James and Regina Hosford, brother-in-laws James Hosford and John Hosford, and his grandson, Casey Potts.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary Potts; his children, James Potts (wife Anita), Deanna Potts, and Micheal Potts (wife Christina); seven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim Potts (wife Lucy); sister-in-law, Margaret Szalajeski (husband Jim); as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
