Obituary of Beverly Thornburg
Beverly Thornburg, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feragne Villa, 755 Mid Cities Blvd, Hurst, Texas.
Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to Autism Speaks or Nascar Foundation.
Beverly was born January 9th, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to William Banks and Katharyn Pigg. She was a 1950 graduate of Vernon High School. Beverly worked as a payroll and accounts payable clerk throughout her life. She spent the majority of her career, from 1974 - 1980, as the supervisor of the banking department for Shoprite Foods. In 1980 she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She moved back to Texas in 1981 to be close to her grandchildren and finished her career with Williams and Bell from 1981-1997.
Not one to retire she then went to work with her eldest daughter Marsha at Meritage Homes from 1997-2005. Her two greatest things in her life her family and sports. She enjoyed all sports, but car racing was her passion. A member of Mountain Creek Rallye Club, GVRA, and SCCA from 1969-2009. Her love for racing continued after she retired from the sport with watching every racing event on TV. Never missing anything televised.
Beverly’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren her number one priority. She never missed out on seeing anything they were involved in sports, concerts, plays being grandma’s taxi was her greatest joy in life.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in November and fought hard to beat it but passed from complications on May 27, 2018, at 4:20 p.m. She was surrounded by her family and friends and love.
Beverly was preceded by her parents, William Banks and Katharyn Pigg; brother, Graham Banks; and her granddaughter, Amy Gail Morris.
Survivors: Daughters, Marsha English and son-in-law, Bubba English, and Sheila Thornburg and daughter-in-law, Barbara Cupp; grandchildren, Chad Dunlap and wife, Marla Dunlap, Eddy Morris, Jessica Kimmell and husband, Clint Kimmell, James Greenwood and fiancé, Meredith Millington; great-granchildren, Macenzie Morris, Macen Francisco, Cayden Dunlap, Caleb Dunlap, Collin Dunlap, Kurt Giles; and great-great-grandchild, Beckham Morris; extended family, Michael Norvold, Ricky Mcclendon-White, Angie Griffin, Porter Pierce, Kyle Mcmanaman, Michael Mcmanaman, Jennifer Brown, Kyle Vaughn, Donna and Fred Fransico, Greg Fransico; and cousins, Judy and Joe Percival.
