Obituary of John Lee Jones
John Lee Jones, 71, of Granbury, Texas (formerly of Houston) lost his battle with cancer on September 4. The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and staff at MDAnderson, especially Dr. Christopher Logothetis and Claudette Mendoza, for their continuous care.
John grew up in Boonville, Missouri, where he met his future wife, Sondi, in the 4th grade. John graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1969 and was employed by Chiquita Banana in Houston until he was drafted into the Army and served in the Panama Canal Zone. John returned to CMSU where he earned his Masters Degree in Business and was employed by Johnson & Johnson in Overland Park, Kansas, then Tulsa, Oklahoma, and finally Houston, Texas, where he retired after 31 years as an Executive Sales Rep. John and Sondi were charter members of Raveneaux Country Club in Houston and also members of Northwoods Presbyterian Church.
They moved to Lake Granbury to be closer to their grandchildren, where they enjoyed many hours on the lake with friends and family, and playing golf at Harbor Lakes. The grandchildren have fond memories of being pulled behind the pontoon boat on Big Mable. John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sondi, and their son, Judson, of Prosper, Texas, daughter-in-law Lisa, and 2 grandchildren Ashton, 12, and Makenzie, 9. John is also survived by his brother, Larry, of Kearney, Missouri. A private Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Granbury, followed by a reception at Harbor Lakes.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made in John's name to: MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Christopher Logothetis, c/o Jennifer Jung, GU Medical Oncology, 1155 Pressler St., Unit 1374, Houston, Texas 77030.
