Raymond Alfred (Ray) Gilley, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Fort Worth. Born August 11, 1926 in San Antonio to the late H.R. and Rachel Gilley, Ray served his country in the U.S. Navy. Upon moving to the Fort Worth area, Ray worked as an aircraft electrician for Convair, later General Dynamics, and retired from Lockheed Martin. Ray and his wife, Maggie, resided in Benbrook for almost 30 years, and were faithful members of the Benbrook Church of Christ, where they raised their children. They moved to Granbury in 1986. After Maggie’s death, Ray was blessed to find love and companionship with Robbie. They had 26 happy years together in Joshua, and were members of Lane Prairie Baptist Church. Ray is predeceased by his parents; wife and mother of his children, Maggie; and his brother; Ralph. Visitation: Tuesday January 10, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lane Prairie Baptist Church, 412 C.R. 704, Joshua. Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m., at Lane Prairie Baptist Church. Interment with Navy honors: 3:00 p.m., at Holly Hills Memorial Gardens in Granbury. He leaves to cherish many wonderful memories: his wife, Robbie, of Joshua; Son: Ronny of Itasca; daughter: Lynda of Benbrook; step-daughters: Tami Callaway and husband Barry of Cleburne; and Laura Valdez and husband Genaro of Joshua. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 grand dogs, and a host of family and friends.
