Obituary of Martha Jean Shaw

Martha Jean Benton Shaw, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called to her heavenly home on May 19, 2026, at the age of 93.

Celebration of Life:  11:00am Wednesday May 27th at First Baptist Church Benbrook, 1015 McKinley St, Benbrook TX 76126.  Interment to be later, at the DFW National Cemetery.

Martha was born March 31, 1933, to Helen and Wade Benton in Fort Worth.  She graduated from Carter Riverside High School in 1950 and attended TCU.  Martha married Bill Shaw on July 17, 1954.  They were married for 63 wonderful years until his passing in 2017.  She led a life full of devotion to her family and her Lord and Savior. She adored being “Mimi” to her two precious grandsons, Austin and Asa. Martha played piano and loved all music and enjoyed singing, particularly old hymns.  Her church family was very dear to her heart and important to her.  She loved to travel and visited 47 countries in her lifetime.  She also enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her plants.  She loved all animals, especially the many dogs and cats she had throughout her life.

Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Shaw, and grandson Austin Mills.

Survivors: daughters Carole Mills and Rosemary Mazzone; grandson Asa Shaw; great grandson Evan Winemiller; sister Lynda Taylor; several nephews and her beloved dog Maverick.
