Obituary of Melinda Truly Davis

Please share a memory of Melinda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Melinda Truly Davis, a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother, passed away on May 1, 2026, leaving behind a life beautifully lived and a family who will forever carry her love forward.

Born on February 7, 1959, to Gene and Frankie Truly, she was raised in a family rooted in love, support and connection; values she carried with her throughout her life.

She graduated from Burleson High School in 1977, where she was a multi-sport athlete and later inducted into the Burleson High School Hall of Fame. She went on to play basketball at Ouachita Baptist University, but after a year away returned home to Burleson.

Mindy married her person, and love of her life, Dave Davis, on June 10, 1989. Their adventures together knew no limits. Connected through their love of sports and the outdoors, Mindy and Dave spent many years at Possum Kingdom Lake, playing golf and enjoying the views and wildlife from their front porch.

Mindy had a passion for travel and adventure, eager to see new places and experience the world around her. She found beauty in the journey and treasured the memories made along the way. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of every gathering, known for her warmth and kindness, her generous spirit, and a laugh that could light up any room; the kind that stays with you long after the moment has passed. Her close friends lovingly referred to her as “Miss America”, a fitting tribute to her beauty, her radiant spirit, and the way she made everyone feel seen and loved.

She is survived by her husband Dave, son Ashton (Erin), sister Val (Phil), brother Mike (Patti), niece Jordan (Caleb), brother-in-law Don (Angela), sister-in-law Jean (Mike), extended family and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Frankie Truly; her brother, Gene Jr.; and her grandson, Easton.

Mindy’s legacy is one of love, resilience and joy. To honor Mindy’s love of sunshine and the simple beauty of being outdoors, the family encourages you to spend time in the sun, remembering her warmth and the light she brought to others. She will be deeply missed by all lucky enough to have known her.
